Short-term learning initiatives (non-formal qualifications)
Unisa’s short learning programs emphasize “just in time” and “just enough” learning to address particular learning need to be recognized by society. This need may be centered on facilitating access to other short learning programs, enhancing access to formal qualification studies at Unisa, or addressing a particular demand in the workplace.

To support lifelong learning, short learning programs can update or enhance skills and knowledge in a particular field. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • You will have gained a variety of skills, abilities, and experiences over your existence. Regardless of where or when it was acquired, this learning—which may have occurred outside of official schooling and training—is valuable. You may have received information or skills from a variety of sources, including short courses, community service, on-the-job training, and work experience in a related sector.
  • Based on the depth and breadth of your knowledge, RPL enables you to earn credits toward a formal certificate, diploma, and degree degrees provided by Unisa. Your prior learning will be evaluated in relation to predetermined learning objectives.
