Stick around on the page to know how unisa credit works.

How do credits for Unisa work?

  • According to the credit rating system, 10 hypothetical hours are equal to one credit. For instance: A 10 x 12 credit module makes up the 120 credits of a Higher Certificate. Twelve credits per program equal 120 notional hours. Therefore, a 15-week semester calls for at least 8 hours of study time every week.

How long do Unisa credits last?

  • The following are the maximum durations (including delay) in which a qualification must be completed: Three years for 120 credits. 6 years for 240 credits. 8 years for 360 credits

A degree is how many credits long?

  • The short answer is that in order to obtain a bachelor’s degree, you must finish 120 college credits. The majority of people believe you can finish that many classes—roughly 40—in four years.

Credit

  • The amount of theoretical study hours needed to meet the learning objectives is measured in credits. Exams, assignments, and study time are all included in the fictitious hours. According to the credit rating system, 10 hypothetical hours are equal to one credit.

A Higher Certificate, for instance, consists of a module with 10 x 12 credits and 120 total credits. Twelve credits per program equal 120 notional hours. Therefore, a 15-week semester calls for at least 8 hours of study time every week.

A predetermined amount of credits, divided into smaller units, are necessary for qualification. Undergraduate courses at Unisa typically carry 12 credits. Each module is matched to a certain NQF level. For instance, 30 modules of 12 credits each make up a 360-credit bachelor’s degree.

A bachelor’s degree may include

  • 8 to 10 modules worth 12 credits each at NQF level 5
  • 10 to 12 modules worth 12 credits each at NQF level 6
  • 10 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 7, plus another 10 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 7 for 4-year qualifications

These levels build on one another. When selecting a module, you must first have passed the lower level module. You must have completed the required amount of credits before you can be given a qualification. The modules must be completed at the NQF level required.
