Unisa has an application and selection process that effectively corrects historical imbalances without jeopardizing quality standards since it has a societal obligation to address past inequalities.

Application for Admission for 2024

Who needs to apply?

  • Everyone who wants to begin a new qualification must submit an admissions application. This covers both Unisa students switching to a new qualification and first-time Unisa applicants.
    Everyone who completes an Extended Programme, Alternative Pathway, or Higher Certificate must apply for admission to the succeeding qualification.
    If you previously applied for admission, received feedback, and then did not register for any reason, you must reapply.
    Under the Unisa-TVET agreement, admission is required for anyone wishing to enroll in classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college.
    Please take note: If you previously applied for admission and were given a space, but did not accept the offer and/or did not register for whatever reason, you must reapply for admission.

The procedure for applying

  • A maximum of two qualifications, listed in order of preference, may be applied for (although you may only register for one should both of your qualifications be successful).
    You will be notified by Unisa of the results of your application. If you are accepted, Unisa will let you know which qualification and will provide you a spot for the time period you requested (ie either semester 1 or semester 2).
    You have the predetermined amount of time to accept or reject Unisa’s offer.
