If you are applying to study at Unisa in the next academic year (2024-2025), make sure to read the following article carefully. We have compiled a list of the most important things you need to know in order to apply successfully.

Who Should Submit an Application?

  • Anyone who wishes to begin a new qualification at Unisa must apply for admission.

When to Use

  • Undergraduate Qualification; Applications for undergraduate admission to Unisa will be accepted from September to November.
  • Honors Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas: Admission to Unisa Honours Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas will be available from September to December. Additionally, if there are still spaces available for the 2024 academic year, additional application deadlines will be announced.
  • Master’s and Doctoral Qualification: Admission to Unisa Master’s and Doctoral Qualification will be open from September to November. Following that, only those qualifications with enough open spots will be kept open until the end of January 2024.

What are the requirements for applying?

To begin, you must determine whether you are eligible for admission and ensure that you have the following required/needed documents on hand during the application process:

  • a copy of your academic credentials (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
a copy of your tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (No internet copies will be accepted.)
A copy of your ID document (if you are an RSA student) or your ID/passport (international students)
a copy of your marriage certificate or divorce decree (if applicable) (applicable)
Documents that are not in English or Afrikaan must be sworn translated.

  • When completing the online application process, carefully follow the instructions. Upload only the required documents as individual files, not the entire set of documents as a single file. Pay the application fee after receiving a student number from Unisa because fees are non-refundable, even if you decide not to study through Unisa, do not qualify for admission to Unisa, or are unable to be offered a space due to limited spaces available.

If you do not complete your application, you will have to reapply during the next application period.
